And cows do not die from lack of protein normally - only if it was less than five % with really bad stemmy hay and not enough water, too high producing etc. Rarely does it make enough difference to justify it economically. 16% protein is overfeeding protein for most dairy cows if I have god hay and I don't mind sacrificing a bit of miklk in thepail for dollars. According to my "pig book" it says they should have a regular ration of commercial pig feed and Extras such as and not even the food I feed my KIDS is organic. Great question!
